Psychosexual was a group exhibition curated by Scott J. Hunter at Andrew Rafacz gallery. The catalog features essays by Scott J. Hunter and Elijah Burgher as well as a diagrammatic essay by Jason Foumberg and of course, images of the 13 artist’s work. The aim of the show was to explore the constructed, yet unconscious meaning of the physical gesture in contemporary art making, and its intimacy and eroticism. So I wanted the catalog to be very tactile and sexy. The cover stock is black touche paper printed with a black foil stamp. This technique produces a sharp contrast in texture between the matt soft touche paper and the glossy, slick foil. The interior of the catalog has pink pages for the essays and white pages for the artists work. There are 56 pages in total which are perfect bound. The cover was printed by Rohner Letterpress and the interior pages and binding was done at Vision printing. In the end, the graphic treatment of Jason’s essay and the cover production technique make this an unusual but professional catalog.
